Initially, BellenPaws.com was just going to be a place to share photos of our new feline adoptees Belle ‘n’ Paws. As we started getting going on the website it seemed easy enough to add a few more things that may help other pet owners and animal lovers in the form of articles or info posts.
Around our website, which at the time of this posting is still “under construction”, you’ll see several resources, stories and links that we hope will inform, teach, and connect you while you visit us.
What you’re seeing is a result of our own experience with pets and animals over the years. We feel each experience has taught us a great deal if and when there’s another similar issue that comes along with another one of our pets. We hope to impart this knowledge to other pet owners with our postings.
Website and Social Media
The website is up. We’ve got several sections up and a few postings as well. Social media is set up for BellenPaws.com, so check out our social media links on the front page to connect and should also be available on our posts for sharing.
We’re proudly a part of the Twitter, YouTube, Reddit and Instagram communities. Find us there or here at the website of course. There may be other social media links to come someday but four social networks seemed a good start. While we have a Reddit account, we’re not actually that socially engaged with posting there but we’re avid readers.
We’re going to post here at the site, on Twitter, Instagram, and maybe YouTube if there’s video. That should be enough. Posting to a blog wasn’t supposed to be a full time job. If you’re part of those networks, look for us and please follow, subscribe, or just check out our pages there. The content at one site may not be what we’ve posted elsewhere, so keep an eye out.
Pages, sections, security and ads
Several sections still primed and set to go here at our website. We’re just tweaking and correcting the content while we build. We need everything to look good and yet be efficient with the navigation. We’re learning to optimize images to deliver them faster to the end user (something that’s very important when delivering content to mobile devices).
We’re working on security and staff pages today (as of this post). We’ll probably be done tonight and we’ll be moving on to some sort of online photo albums for viewing pictures. We’re toying with a few slide show options but we haven’t settled on anything yet for display and serving the images. To get something up in the form of pictures, we may just have thumbs and links to the media for now. This will work temporarily until we find a better delivery system for the images.
We’re working on “Privacy” and “Image License” pages as well. “Privacy” page because when your running ads and you have a website… there’s cookies and logging going on that requires privacy disclosure to a website visitor.
In the case of ads, we’re using Google Adsense, and as a website we don’t have access to Google’s data but their advertising code needs to have disclosure for the website visitor. We also need to get a page describing the image license regarding our website images. When the Privacy page is finished we’ll re-evaluate image licensing.
