We also had a cat named Rascal that definitely seemed to benefit from using this turmeric paste. Rascal had abdominal issues and suffered what would be considered IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome) in humans. He was always in discomfort and this turmeric paste seemed to ease many of his symtoms.

How We Prepare Turmeric Paste for Pets
Our approach to preparing turmeric paste is simple and tailored to be gentle on our pets’ digestive systems. Here’s how we do it:
Our Recipe for Turmeric Paste
Ingredients:
- 1/4 cup organic turmeric powder
- 1/2 – 3/4 cup filtered water
- 3/4 tsp fresh ground black pepper
- 1/8 cup (1 TBL) organic coconut oil
Directions:
- Put turmeric and water in a pan on low heat and stir with a whisk until a paste forms—start with ½ cup water and adjust consistency as needed. (About 10 min)
- Add pepper and oil, stirring to combine.
- Remove from heat and let cool.
- Store in a sterilized glass jar in the fridge for up to 4 weeks.
We have found that cutting the above amounts in half still lasts us a while. We start with about 1/4 teaspoon to 1/2 teaspoon tsp per meal, depending on the size of the dog, and increase the amount as needed, up to about a tablespoon per meal for larger dogs. For cats we obviously started with a lesser amount of 1/4 teaspoon and would increase as we thought was needed.
