Belle and Paws have slimmed down quite a bit since they’ve joined us. When we first acquired the two of them, they were both a little overweight. Belle and Paws now have specific feeding times during the day with wet cat food and don’t eat dry food regularly. We switched them to wet food because both cats were exhibiting signs of constipation when they joined us and we wanted to try and hydrate them through the wetter food.
For Instance, if Belle didn’t go to the bathroom, she would literally just lay around all day with a frown on. It is not uncommon for Belle to be constipated for a day or two. Once she went to the bathroom, she was very active and engaged. This behavior was easy to track. Once we switched to a food with much more water in it (wet food), Belle’s constipation improved and she’s no longer that cat that just lies around sleeping. Constipation makes you uncomfortable and it’s easy to understand why she didn’t want to do anything.
Paws was the same way. Slept most of the day and barely would go to the bathroom to poop once every two days. Once we switched off the dry food and started feeding them wet food, both Belle and Paws became much more engaged and playful.They both started going regularly once a day or twice a day.
It was a total turn around for them and there is now no stopping them. Belle and Paws get along fantastic with the rest of the pets and play instead of sleeping. When Belle and Paws first came to us they would literally sleep all day. Not to mention, that was a complaint from the previous owners who sounded more like they were bored with the cats.
Once Belle and Paws started eating the wet food and being more active, they started dropping those pounds, which only reflected in them being more active. You can’t stop them now once they got their mind set on something and are determined.They’ve slimmed down and climb the cat trees like pros.
Once these cats became more active, it started getting increasingly more difficult to tell them apart. Belle and Paws look remarkably similar unless you’re looking at their face. Belle has a pink nose and more of a tuxedo type of cat look.
While Paws has odder markings on his face but still a tuxedo type of cat look going on, but his nose is grey instead of pink like Belle’s. The cats have to be coming at you to tell them apart if you don’t know the “little” things that differentiate them. We certainly have no problem looking at them from any angle and knowing who’s who now.
